Amongst all the lost faces in the crowd,

On a street corner of a busy Bangalore road,

I search for your face or maybe a shadow, of the person I used to know.

Time had come to a standstill,

As you dropped me home that day.

I knew as I hugged you goodbye,

That this was it.It was all over.

But my heart, stubborn as I was refused to accept what destiny had in store for us.

How could I come back from this?

My heart had been broken way too many times.

All its pieces strung together loosely, I clutched them tightly against my chest.

As i was swooned over by your lame jokes and your love for detail.

I fell , I fell fast with every word that escaped from your lips.

I fell even for the silliest things you did or said.

Now, how could i stay still as my heart picked up twice it’s pace.

Nothing seemed to be in place.

Tears constantly streamed down my face.

When loneliness crept into my mind during those dark times,

I’d rewind and go back.

Go back to the times you said these scars I flaunted made me beautiful.

How could I ever know, that these would be the very reason you left.

The longer I try to hold on,

The faster my grasp is loosened.

I can see everything slide through in a blur.

Time did heal a few wounds.

But not all wounds can heal on its own.

I had to hold my tears back.

I had to smile until I believed it. I had to, for myself.

I knew I had to fight my way through,

Out of this pit of self-pity dug deep.

Who are you to make me cry,

I now have gotten used to this way too many times.

I’ll (Never) Miss you

This is a collab with one of my friend, Rahul. He is an amazing writer. Do check out more of his writing here.

Happy Reading!

I’ll never miss the way you said my name
Or the way my curly hair, your fingers tried to tame.
I’ll never miss the warmth that I felt during those chilly nights on the beach.
Or the heights our useless ramblings tried to reach.

I’ll never miss your precise alarm like morning wishes
I’ll never miss your tearful goodbye kisses.
I’ll never miss our lazy pillow fights
Or our long deep talks into the night.

I may never miss the way your face lit up
Each time I passed by.
I may never miss the way my heart synced along
As you sang your favorite lullaby.

I may never miss you,
Because missing you would mean I miss our fights
And all the abuses we actually never meant.
Missing you would mean I miss the hurt you put me through.

I’ll try not to miss your crazy obsession with spiders.
Or your stupidity that never failed to make me smile.
I’ll try not to miss our dreams to travel the world
Or the day we danced in the rain on our first date.
I’ll try not to miss your scent that lingered on hours after you left.

I’ll try not to miss how you tended my broken heart.
I’ll try not to miss your failed surprise plans.
I’ll try not to miss the way you held me each time i cried.
I’ll try not to miss how each time you were sad, I died a little inside.

Alas! I’m tired of trying not to miss you.
Maybe these could be forgotten,
Each feeling I thought was true.
But how can I not miss the person I was before I met you.

Three Musketeers plus two

I’d written this for my cousin who turned 21 few days back.Wish you all the happiness in the world Ishi :*

Three girls huddled together on the couch,
Their feet high above the ground.
A lazy afternoon
spent at nana’s place
wondering what to play
after exhausting all  games they knew at their age.

The three musketeers
as they were called
could bring the entire household down.
With Toofan mail in the lead,
Ishi and Jess, were her partners in crime.

Whether it was pulling books down from Nana’s bookshelf
to running around the house playing catch,
they had done it all.

Fast forward a few years
three young girls huddled on the same couch
now with a small boy and a baby girl.
Overjoyed at their newfound accomplices,
They planned to take over the little world they lived in.

And so began the training of the little ones
Toofan mail taught how to care selflessly.
Ishi taught them how to have fun.
Jess taught them how to play.
Together they went on missions,
it was them against the world.

Many years later,
smarter and more mature
the three musketeers and plus two
knew not, if they would conquer the world.
But know for a fact
that they have each others.

Silhouette- Early evenings

                       early evenings

Recently I’d been to this beautiful Lake. I got this picture just as the sun set. What made this evening more beautiful was that I’d gone with my friends.

At times with the right people and the last rays of the setting sun you find the answers.

Silver Lining

Complaints never ceasing

of the smallest of issues,

 hardly making a difference

in my comparatively easy life.

Love and comfort given without any measure

yet I always find something missing or not enough.

She was different though, bubbling with life.

Her smile and comforting words

would get you over a bad day.

She had her rules and take  on life.

Always fighting for the greater good,

she could stand against anyone.

A glance at her could never reveal

her difficult and painful past.

She could hide it all with a smile.

An epitome of endless courage,

she never complained

instead she faced it all.

I wonder where she’d draw

her patience and strength from,

to fight her battles.

Each day,a new battle emerges

from the mountain of worries

adding to her misery.

Even these couldn’t deter her

from smiling or fighting back

with poise and grace.

I wish all could share

the strength she possesses.

Looking for a hint of good

even in the worst situation.

Hoping and trusting

that all that happens

is not without reason.

Believing in that silver lining

that lines the dark cloud.

My journey with Mom

lil me

  As a little girl,

you held my hand,

when the world said I couldn’t stand again.

You taught me,played with me.

You did everything to make me smile.

Years pass by…

Your eyes meet mine

I know you can sense the battle within.

You want to help, but this is mine.

You plead for an answer, the only thing I don’t have.

The fear of being asked the same questions over and over

questions,to which I don’t have any answers.

Though I’m away from you,

I hope you know I’ll always love you.

But this is what I want to do,

have to follow my dream.

I’ve grown wings to fly,

so I can fly high and touch the sky.

No matter where I go,

I’ll always be your little girl.

The road seems long

without you by my side, for you were my only guide.

In you I could always confide.

You have always been there for me

to wipe a tear, shower unending love.

A friend,a hope

a reason life is still worthwhile.

A constant source of unending grace

With you I’ve become a better being.

You taught me to be strong

never give up even when life gets rough.

The love you have for me

overpowers all the evil around me.

I promise I won’t let you down.

One day you will look at me and say

that is my baby girl,

I’m proud of you.

Weekly photo Challenge

Letters:For this week’s challenge, share a photo with letters — no matter the alphabet.A snapshot of how we communicate with one another, even if we don’t speak the same language

My best friend MPD and I had this thing we did. We started writing notes to each other in class. It started out as something we did to only talk to each other during class, but later on it helped us in many ways.

I remember this one day both of us had a huge fight. We didn’t talk to each other for an entire day.I know that isn’t much but for people like us who couldn’t keep our mouths shut when we were together,it was huge.Everyone in class got worried that we both were so quiet. So I wrote a note to her explaining why I was angry. It may seem stupid but I didn’t go tell her this directly because I was still mad at her.She read it and replied back. After a few notes we were laughing about the whole fight.

This habit continued with us,and even when we were shifted to different classes next year we wrote each other notes:happy, stupid, encouraging ones.

In this world of texting and e-mails it makes me very happy when someone gives me a hand written note or card.It shows they care enough to pen down a few words.

This she said was her trademark.BLAH! 😛

P.S:I still have all of those notes. They never fail to bring s smile on my face when I see them 🙂

What I should do…?

More Than that

Yeah I guess, that’s God telling me I should do more than what I usually do to achieve my goal! Inspiring 🙂

What I shouldn’t do…?

I’m Alive

Being alive is one of the best gifts you can have.So I’m going to make the most of every moment.Isn’t it beautiful when you wake up each morning and realize that you have one more day to live.

What I Will Do…?

Told you So

I don’t like hearing that line,so I usually try and do what I’m told. 😛
